Mad Hat Company was founded by Susie O’Neill to change the world one hat at a time! Not only to create the perfect bespoke headpiece for your special occasion, but to enable you to find the right hat just for you that helps you stand a little taller, a little prouder and more confident.

It’s my aim to spread the joy of hats creating a movement of ‘together in our uniqueness’. We are Mad Hat Company. Standing out from the crowd, turning heads and celebrating fun, happiness, confidence, individuality and creativity.

After a successful career as a Broadcast Journalist in commercial radio, I hung up my headphones to raise three children before embarking on a creative journey to decide exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up.

As a life long lover of hats and an avid wearer of them, it wasn’t long before I found my absolute calling. When it comes to headwear, anything goes – the only limitations are the designer’s imagination and the wearer’s confidence. And this designer’s imagination knows no bounds! I can create virtually anything from show-stopping exhibition pieces to subtle mother-of-the bride creations.

I learned my craft under the acclaimed milliner Chloe Scrivener at the Arts University Bournemouth and at the Dorset Centre for Creative Arts in Dorchester, where I continue to develop my skills in order to stay ahead of emerging millinery trends.
